Yes, the VW 2.5 is a 5-cylinder engine. It has been praised for its smooth and quiet operation, as well as its durability. However, like any engine, it can experience some common problems, such as ignition coil failure, vacuum pump leaks, and N80 valve failure. As per the recordings and the field data, the VW 2.5 engine will last up to 200000 miles, or even more with proper and regular maintenance. On average, the longevity of a VW 2.5 engine is up to 280,000 miles. A new Volkswagen Jetta‘s quality and condition will allow it to last at least 150,000 miles.

#3 · Jan 21, 2016 I've owned mine for probably 3 years now and I love it. 2005 to 2008 was the first version of the 2.5 5 cylinder which apparently it has a timing chain problem but I think it's all in how often you maintenance the engine. We believe the average longevity of the 2.5-liter 5-cylinder engine by Volkswagen should be about 280,000 miles. This is a fair figure. The engine can go more, but sometimes it's really expensive to drive more miles. We believe that buying a vehicle with more than 200K miles on it is not wise.
The 2.5 engines have garnered a reputation for their longevity, having service life between 150,000 and 200,000 miles in most cases. It’s important to note, however, that they do need more regular oil replacements because of their higher oil consumption rate.
Stewart - July 3, 2023 0 27 Are you looking for a reliable yet powerful engine for your next vehicle? The Volkswagen 2.5 engine is a great option to consider. This engine has been a staple in many Volkswagen models since the early 2000s and is known for its reliability and power.
